The blessed month of Ramadan is almost upon us. May Allah bless us all with His forgiveness and mercy. The following are details on how we determine the start and the end of the month of Ramadan, the programs that we plan on having during this blessed month of Ramadan and last but not least, our goals for the blessed month of Ramadan.
The beginning and the ending of the month of Ramadan
At the Islamic Center of Naples, we have taken the following hadith as our guideline.
Per the hadith listed below, we have adopted the moon sighting as the means to determine the beginning and end of the blessed month of Ramadan. This is the opinion of the majority of the scholars of the Islamic nation.
For further insight in this topic, please refer to the following video by Shaikh Assim L. Alhakim.
For more insight on the science behind the moon sighting refer to the following video by Shaikh Hamza Yusuf.
The committee at the Islamic Center of Naples work and collaborate with other mosques and Islamic centers in the South-West Florida area that have adopted moon sighting as a means for determining the beginning and the ending of the blessed moon of Ramadan.
Programs during the months of Ramadan
Iftar and dinner are served at the Islamic Center of Naples every day during the blessed month of Ramadan.
Taraweeh prayers are held right after the Isha Prayer.
Other programs and activities might become available. Please refer to the calendar on the website for more details.
Our goals this Ramadan
Our main goal is to do our best in serving our brothers and sisters during this blessed month of Ramadan.
As we all know Ramadan is an opportunity to do good deeds as we can since the rewards from Allah are greater than in other months. Allah, the mighty had made Ramadan an opportunity for us to seek forgiveness and draw closer to him as He the almighty knows our shortcomings and mischiefs.
The Islamic Center of Naples relies upon Allah the all-mighty and on your donations. Without the help of Allah and without your generous donations we wouldn’t have what we have now. Every year, for the blessed month of Ramadan we set a goal of collecting an amount of money to cover some of the expenses of the Islamic Center throughout the year and to put some of it toward projects and activities within the Islamic Center.
Our goal for the 2019 blessed month of Ramadan is to raise the amount of $60,000.00.
Volunteering at the Islamic Center
As mentioned, Ramadan is an opportunity to do as many good deeds as possible to draw closer to Allah the Almighty. Volunteering is another opportunity for the brothers and sisters in our community to draw closer to Allah and gain forgiveness and blessings from Allah.
In order to be organized and use each volunteer’s time and efforts efficiently, we urge the volunteers to work and collaborate with the committee members.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
May Allah bless you all.
